Fraction and division are closely related.
Mathematically they are the same.

So  ÷  is used for fraction too.

Let’s start with a simple example:

1/2 + 3/4

You can enter by clicking:

1  ÷  2  +  3  ÷  4

Or by typing:

1 / 2 + 3 / 4

You get:

1/2 + 3/4 = 1.25

To see the result in fraction:

Click  Eye Button  for more options.

When you select Fraction, you get:

1/2 + 3/4 = 1 1/4

And you can see it as an improper fraction too:

Mixed Fractions

How do we enter 1 2/3?

Let’s look at how we say it:

one and two third

We use the ‘and’ operator. This is the button:  &

Time for an example:

1 2/3 - 1 1/4

Enter:

1&2 / 3 1&1 / 4

Result:

1 2/3 - 1 1/4 = 5/12

Division

By default, Magic Number shows division in fraction style.
It can also show division as  a ÷ b.

To get  ÷,  press / / (i.e. press  /  2 times)

For  54÷3,  enter:  54 / / 3

54 ÷ 3 = 18

This technique is useful for divisions with fractions, e.g.

1 2/3 - 1 1/4

Enter:

2 / 5  / /  7 / 9

2 / 5 ÷ 7 / 9 = 18/35
